Kiti Freier. The following represents a guideline for evaluation of the developmental
status of children having resided in a clandestine lab environment.
In order to: 1) obtain more useful information necessary for appropriate
intervention related to the child’s long-term development,
and 2) to provide uniformity of follow-up with the medical interventions,
the following protocol is proposed. Evaluations are discussed in
terms of immediate follow-up (within the first 72 hours), one month
(post-identification) follow-up, six month follow-up and one year
follow-up. The guidelines contain the recommended evaluation for
the desired ‘standard of care;’ however, other assessments
and screening tools are provided as alternate choices that can be
utilized when necessary (i.e., examiner not trained in suggested
protocol measures, measure is not available etc).... read
